It’s official: we have changed our company name to Apex Welding Safety to better reflect who we are and what we do as a business. This new name also allows us to remain colloquially known as AWS.
Why the change?
AWS has been looking after New Zealand since 2013, and in 2023, AWS will be rolled into Southeast Asia to represent the 3M Speedglas brand across Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Therefore, Australian Welding Supplies no longer makes sense.
AWS is also not a welding supplies company. We are a welding safety business representing the market’s leading welding safety brands including the 3M™ Speedglas™ range of welding helmets with integrated respiratory protection, Translas and Nederman On-Gun Fume Extraction, the Nederman, Plymovent and Bomaksan range of portable local exhaust ventilation fume protection systems, the range of SPATA Welding Gloves & Jackets and the 3M M-Series Clear Face Shields.
As an advocate for welders’ safety, AWS has published numerous Welding Safety White Papers, Welding Industry Reports, and Welding Fume Control Frameworks (these can be found here). After all, this is a company that specialises in welders’ safety, and it is our goal to raise awareness on the important issues that welders face.

AWS can assist and support workplaces to navigate and understand every level of the hierarchy of control and understand their responsibilities as an employer of welders, relevant to eye, face, head, hearing, hand, and respiratory protection.
For this reason, Apex Welding Safety is a name that better defines who we are as a business. Aside from that, it’s business as usual!
