For the second consecutive year, Apex Welding Safety has received Weld Australia’s Welding Excellence Award for Health & Safety in Welding!
AWS greatly appreciates this recognition from such a leading advocate for welders’ safety in Weld Australia, and again we’re glad we could contribute to the incredible work they do for the Australian welding industry and in advocating for welders' safety.

This year, the AWS team has redoubled our efforts to raise awareness on the important issues that welders face with several new White Papers, Scientific Studies and Industry Reports. This began with spreading the word about the NEW Workplace Exposure Standard (WES) for Welding Fume in Australia, as in January 2024 this limit was reduced from 5mg/m3 to 1 mg/m3.

From there, there was a newfound focus on protecting welders from not only welding fume, but also toxic Ozone gas generated by the welding process. To that end, Protecting the Welder from Ozone: A Scientific Study was released, with the results measuring welder’s exposure to ozone and the effectiveness of different product controls in minimising exposure.

Most recently, based on our 2024 survey of over 1,350 welders across Australia, the Welding Fume & Product Control Industry Review was launched to map out the current state of the welding industry regarding welding fume exposure and welding fume product controls.
This survey sought to understand whether the welding industry was aware of the new welding fume WES, as well as determine what methods of welding fume product controls were being employed to reduce exposure to as low as possible.
