The new Speedglas G5-01 TW has just launched in Australia and New Zealand: a feature-packed, upgraded version of the hugely popular 3M Speedglas 9100 FX Air, complete with a stack of new technology and available at the same price point!
So what exactly does this exciting new addition to the Speedglas range have to offer?
Larger Viewing Area & Superior Optical Quality
Featuring True-View optics for improved colour and contrast, the Speedglas G5-01 TW offers a larger auto-darkening welding lens with superior optics (1/1/1/1) when compared to the 9100 FX Air. At 170 x 104mm, the clear grinding visor is also 15% larger than the 9100 FX Air visor (170 x 100mm).
50% Longer Battery Run Time
The 3M Speedglas G5-01 TW features the Heavy-Duty Adflo PAPR as standard, giving the welder a 50% increase in battery run-time over the 9100 FX Air standard offering (12 hours vs 8 hours). The TW, like the FX Air, also has the Rapid Charge feature, meaning that you can charge your Adflo PAPR up to 80% in approximately 1 hour.
When you combine these stats with a Required Minimum Protection Factor (RMPF) of 50, whereby the Adflo supplies at least 50 times’ cleaner air than the welder would breathe unprotected, you can see what the G5-01 TW delivers in terms of elite performance and protection.
Climate Control as Standard
The innovative G5-01 TW welding helmet air duct system lets you direct the airflow to either your face, your visor, or a combination of both. You can even adjust the amount of air coming from the top outlet vs. the two side outlets or choose a blend of both. All airflow adjustments can be made while you’re wearing the helmet, maintaining your eye, face, and respiratory protection.
Removable Welding Visor
For extended non-welding work, the welder can completely remove the welding visor on the G5-01 TW. This in turn makes the helmet over 35% lighter, and can be easily reattached when you're ready to weld again!
Optional Task Light and Configurable Protection
An optional helmet-mounted task light runs off the Adflo battery pack to provide hours of powerful lighting for work in poorly lit spaces. This task light is specifically designed for welding, and allows you to configure the light intensity depending on your environment. The G5-01 TW also offers multiple extra protection options for welders to increase their head, neck, and ear coverage.
Tack Welding Mode for Smoother Dark-Light Transitions
Featuring shades 3/5/8-13, the G5-01 TW welding lens also introduces new technology for smoother dark to light transitions. The lens uses an intermediate shade 5 light state to help minimise eye strain during extended tack welding applications that involve rapid transitions from dark to light to dark again.
Bluetooth Connectivity
Welders have the option to control all their welding lens settings directly from their smart phone and program up to four memory modes (settings for dark shades, sensitivity, and delay). Welders can also easily record their welding helmet maintenance log to the app and review statistics including when the auto-darkening lens was first activated; hours on; hours in the dark state; hours in the light state; and the number of on/off cycles.
