A Legendary Helmet – Upgraded!

The G5-01TW represents a new feature-packed version of the hugely popular Speedglas 9100 FX Air! Offering a stack of new, upgraded features over the 9100 FX Air, the G5-01TW has been launched at the exact same price point!

Protection from Welding Fume

A new comfort face seal carefully follows the contours of both the helmet and the face, providing an effective positive pressure respiratory seal. The welding helmet’s exclusive airflow pattern ensures the even distribution of filtered air throughout the entire breathing zone of the welder.

Larger Curved Grinding Visor and Removable Welding Shield

Flip up to even wider views when grinding! A smooth flip-up function reveals a massive 170x104mm clear, curved grinding visor – 16% larger than the Speedglas 9100 FX Air! Plus, for extended periods of non-welding, users can easily detach the welding visor – helping reduce the helmet weight by over 35%.

Larger Views with Superior Optical Quality

A massive 71 x 108mm viewing area lets you view your welds with even greater clarity! With Speedglas True-View technology literally changing the way welders see, what you see through the lens appears more detailed, lighter and colourful.

Smoother Dark to Light Transition

Human eyes aren’t designed for handling rapid transitions from dark to light to dark again. The G5-01 TW welding lens uses an intermediate shade 5 light state to help minimise eye strain during extended tack welding applications. If an arc is not struck within 2 seconds the welding lens will switch back to its TrueView light state (shade 2.5).

Climate Control Under The Hood

Taking control over the airflow within your helmet has never been easier! An innovative helmet duct system lets you control the direction and amount of airflow coming into the helmet, for ultimate comfort. All airflow adjustments can be made while wearing the helmet, allowing you to maintain your eye, face and respiratory protection.

Configurable Protection

Maximise your protection with a new range of extra coverage options to suit your welding environment. Choose from extended neck and head covers – available in leather, fabric and high-visibility options.

A Slimmer Design with Greater Coverage

The slimmer, streamlined profile of the G5-01 provides even greater protection for welders’ ears, head and neck.

Bluetooth Connectivity and Memory Modes

With Bluetooth technology, the G5-01TW welding lens allows you to seamlessly change lens settings from the palm of your hand – all while keeping your respiratory protection in place. You can also program up to four memory modes for easy switching.

Let There Be Light

Light up your workspace with an all-new optional task light. With configurable light intensity, the G5-01 task light provides hours of powerful lighting when welding in poorly lit spaces.

The Heavy Duty Adflo Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR)

Heavy Duty Battery Life with One Hour Rapid Charge

The Speedglas G5-01 TW comes standard with the new heavy duty Adflo for 12 hours powerful respiratory protection – giving it 50% greater run time than the Speedglas 9100 FX Air. With rapid charge, the battery charges from 0-80% of its full capacity in approximately one hour.

Award-Winning Respiratory Protection

As one of the most popular PAPR’s in the world, the Adflo respirator has become synonymous with welder’s respiratory protection. The powerful Adflo motor provides increased comfort and safety for all day welding.

You Only Have One Pair of Lungs

The Adflo powered air respirator conforms to Australian & New Zealand Standard AS/NZS1716 (respiratory protection), and offers a required minimum protection factor of 50 for thermally and mechanically generated particles. This means the air you breathe will be at least 50 times cleaner than if you were unprotected.

Exclusive Adflo airflow pattern

Filtered air is evenly distributed throughout the entire breathing zone of the welder, thanks to an exclusive airflow pattern. The intelligent turbo motor maintains the airflow rate at a constant level. For maximum comfort, a diffuser spreads out the airflow pattern.

Mobile, Super Light Welding Respirator

Worn around the welder’s waist, the Adflo unit allows for full mobility. The slim respirator profile makes it perfect for welding in tight spaces. The system has recently been reduced in weight by a further 15%.

Quick Release, Self-Adjusting Breathing Hose

The advanced Quick Release Swivel (QRS) is designed for one handed connection and release. The self-adjusting length means the welding hose is always kept close to the welder to prevent snagging on surrounding objects.

Protection from Welding Particles, Fumes and Gases

With the right type of respiratory filter, the Adflo respirator can effectively protect against both particles and gases - an important safety feature. Indicators assist the welder in knowing when to change the Adflo filters and to charge the Adflo battery.

Standard & Airflow Plus

Regardless of the battery’s charge or the particle loading of the filter, the Adflo system always maintains a constant flow rate of 170 litres per minute. For welding in hot, humid environments, welders can increase the airflow to 200 litres per minute to reduce fatigue and increase their overall welding comfort.

Industry Leading Warranty Protection

The Adflo PAPR is covered by a two year revolving warranty. If you experience any problems with the system in the first two years, your 2 year warranty protection starts again. Speedglas helmets and Adflo powered air welding respirator systems are built to last.

    Protecting Welders Against Ozone

Protecting the Welder from Ozone – An Australian Scientific Study

Ozone (O3) is an extremely toxic gas that is generated when ultraviolet radiation produced by the welding arc reacts with oxygen, which can cause serious health issues to unprotected welders. The main objective of this study was to understand the levels of ozone that an unprotected welder may be exposed to across a variety of common welding processes and whether a Welding Helmet with a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) was an effective control in protecting the welder from exposure to ozone.

The Effectiveness of Welding Fume Product Controls

The Effectiveness Of Welding Fume Product Controls

There are countless scientific studies that conclude that welding fume is bad for health, yet there seem to be very few that can give us practical guidance on how to effectively control welding fume exposure. Studies have done an effective job of defining the problem; however, few have been able to identify and compare the relative effectiveness of available product control solutions. Until now!

I’ve been welding about 6 months so I started off with a basic helmet. Our work has just upgraded everyone to Adflo helmets to help protect against welding fumes. Can’t speak more highly of the G5-01TW. It’s pretty evenly balanced, massive grinding visor and you can play around with the airflow direction which helps stop your mouth drying out. Heavy duty battery lasts all shift too so I don’t need to stop and charge it through the day.
Garth
Great helmet and the lens is massive. Have played around with the Bluetooth lens settings, pretty handy when I’m switching between different jobs so I don’t need to take off my helmet to change.
Shane
Have welded with 9100 FX Air for 8 years so was ready to get some new gear. The helmet feels lighter and narrower than the FX Air, plus when you take off the welding shield part it makes it that much lighter for grinding.
Brenton
Had an old Speedglas 9000x and was looking to upgrade to the FX Air for a while. I was just about to buy it and then the G5-01TW helmet came out. Huge views through the lens and having the cooling from the Adflo pack makes it so much more comfortable.
